Deptford, and Creekside is becoming an emerging creative hub in London and the changing character of the area is evident by developments further along Creekside and adjacent to our site at 1 Creekside. The Council has identified that they are keen for Creekside to be redevelopment in a masterplanned approach, and for individual sites to respond to the emerging Deptford Creative Quarter. The proposals at 1 Creekside have started this process and we are looking to build upon the changing character of Creekside.
2 Creekside is currently home to the Bird’s Nest Pub, and it has been an important part of Deptford’s vibrant character and heritage. The pub has been a hub for music and art but has fallen on hard times and has been through a number of recent ownership changes. Due to the pub’s current condition, size, offering and context, this has resulted in a decrease in trade and it has been difficult to attract and maintain new and existing customers.
We believe that our proposals for a mixed-use development will re-instate the pub as a focal point in the emerging local creative community.
Improving the existing pub to provide a better spaces for customers
Creating high quality commercial space for existing and new creative businesses
Delivering 31 new homes on-site with additional cycle storage
Retaining the existing pub frontage to respect the local Conservation area
